چکیده

ABSTRACT Different products have been tested to increase the vase life of cut flowers after harvest such as biodegradable films. These used in fruits since application on surface may provide modification atmosphere around it, although, there is no information for flowers. The objective was evaluate effectiveness cassava starch films a postharvest product Red Torch Ginger inflorescences. On first experiment, different concentrations solution were and second experiment starch, with plasticizers adjuvants evaluated. film stems acted barrier gases, observed by their water absorption rate maintenance fresh weight, maintaining quality up Day 6. visual better inflorescences treated 6% without additives. use led lower contents hydrogen peroxide lipid peroxidation higher levels primary-metabolism macromolecules 6, delaying senescence increasing durability. addition glycerol plasticizer improved resistance characteristics. It recommended based at concentration 6%. adjuvant not essential it changed film’s characteristics, leaving less transparent more viscous, hindering drying.

Rice Starch-Based Biodegradable Films: Properties Enhancement

The claims of environmental protection and the lack of petroleum resources provide a new opportunity for developing plastic materials derived from biopolymer resources. Starch is one of the most studied and promising raw materials for the production of biodegradable plastics, because starch is quite cheap, abundant, biodegradable and edible. Starch consists of two major types of molecules, prim...

Characterization of Starch Degradation Related Genes in Postharvest Kiwifruit

Starch is one of the most important storage carbohydrates in plants. Kiwifruit typically accumulate large amounts of starch during development. The fruit retain starch until commercial maturity, and its postharvest degradation is essential for consumer acceptance. The activity of genes related to starch degradation has, however, rarely been investigated. Based on the kiwifruit genome sequence a...

Properties of Biodegradable Multilayer Films Based on Plasticized Wheat Starch

Over the last decades, there has been growing needs to find alternatives to petroleum-based products because of environmental concerns. Starch is an inherently biodegradable, renewable and low-cost material, and has high potential in food or non-food applications [1]. In that respect, the applications of starch have given rise to a great number of studies [2–5]. Native starch, when plasticized ...
